Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived on red carpet on Tuesday in Kremlin to meet his counterpart Vladimir Putin and demonstrated strong ties with Russia and touted the rest of the world.
Xi was greeted by military band and senior Russian officials including Russian President Vladmir Putin indicating strengthening of militaries and economic ties with each other .
The Xi visit comes as boost to Moscow where west has imposed several economic sanctions on Russia amid Ukraine war and recently Vladmir Putin has been issued arrest warrant by International court of justice for war crimes in Ukraine War.
"We're always open for a negotiation process," Mr. Putin said, as the leaders called each other "dear friend"
Beijing and Moscow's trade ties have boomed since Russia's Ukraine campaign, linking the nations more closely and raising worries in Western capitals over how far the ties will go.
Moscow said that they would closely discuss the proposals put forwarded by Beijing to end Ukraine War after a year of fighting war.
Mr Putin has said he will discuss a 12-point plan proposed by Mr Xi to "settle the acute crisis in Ukraine"
In a rare move, Putin escorted Xi to his car after the talks, and the two were seen smiling together.
On the other hand White House's National Security Council spokesman John Kirby "We hope that President Xi will press President Putin to cease bombing Ukrainian cities, hospitals and schools, to halt the war crimes and atrocities and to withdraw his troops,".
He further said "But we are concerned that instead China will reiterate calls for a ceasefire that leaves Russian forces inside Ukraine's sovereign territory and any ceasefire that does not address the removal of Russian forces from Ukraine would effectively ratify Russia's illegal conquests. "
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Xi's Moscow visit "suggests that China feels no responsibility to hold the president accountable for the atrocities committed to Ukraine."
"And instead of even condemning, it would rather provide diplomatic cover for Russia to continue to commit those great crimes," he added.
